West’s reaction to unrest fallacious propaganda: Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani has said that the Western states have initiated unfounded and fallacious propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic concerning unrest erupted following the death of Iranian girl Mahsa Amini.

Bagheri Kani made the remarks in an exclusive interview with the Asian News International during his trip to India on Thursday, noting that Amini died and certain Western media outlets created propaganda campaign in respect of recent developments in Iran, while all world public are aware that the Western powers ignore the rights of the Iranian nation.

Elsewhere in his interview, he referred to the fact that his trip to New Delhi is aimed at holding political consultations between India and Iran.

Bagheri Kani held talks with Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Wednesday on mutual collaborations, as well as regional issues, saying that the meeting was very constructive, when both sides underlined the need for enhancement of cooperation.

Asked about economic and trade ties between New Delhi and Tehran, the Iranian official noted that the two countries enjoy broadened cooperation in this respect, adding that both partners enjoy complementary economy, because Iran possesses huge energy resources and it is able to improve energy security of the Indian economy, and India as a supplier of foodstuff can assist Iran in food security.

With regard to the potential of both countries in different sorts of collaborations, the official said that India and Iran can help other countries in particular Afghanistan in terms of economy and technology.

Iran has always been ready to supply other nations especially India with energy in order to help enhance stability in other countries, but the Western powers dictate policies, which are in line with their own interests and create disorders in energy market and economy, he argued.

Criticizing the United States and other Western powers for imposing sanctions on Russia, Venezuela and Iran, he said that the West plays key role in destabilizing energy security in the globe.

He further pointed out to Chabahar port project in southern Iran, noting that one of the main issues in his negotiations with the Indian officials was the bilateral efforts to speed up the completion of the project because of its significance in finalization of the International North–South Transport Corridor.
